We’d like to provide some clarity regarding the recent network disruptions affecting some Vertuo customers.
At this time, our network is experiencing widespread instability due to record-breaking DDoS attacks launched by a massive botnet known as Aisuru. These attacks are reaching multi-terabit per second (Tbps) levels—so large that they not only impact the targeted networks, but also create congestion across Internet service providers and upstream carriers worldwide. The effects of these attacks are being felt far beyond any single company, with ripple effects spreading across many online services globally.(Was explained by outside sources)
Vertuo relies on NeoProtect to provide advanced DDoS protection for our network. However, the scale of these recent attacks is so unprecedented that no provider is fully immune. Major protection providers, including OVH, GSL, Cosmic Guard, Path, NeoProtect, and many others, have all experienced similar challenges as this botnet occasionally targets their own networks. When this happens, temporary instability may occur until the provider mitigates and balances the attack traffic.
Online games are especially sensitive to these types of network conditions. (Example Minecraft) Even brief periods of packet loss or latency spikes can result in lag, timeouts, or disconnects—often before mitigation systems have fully absorbed the attack. This is global so all nodes may feel the impact.
Please rest assured that Vertuo and NeoProtect are closely monitoring the situation 24/7 and are taking every available step to reduce the impact of these global attacks. While these disruptions are not isolated to Vertuo and are affecting providers worldwide, we remain fully committed to protecting your services and maintaining network stability to the highest degree possible.
